I'm Joe Thompson. I grew up in Nashville and went to Rhodes College in Memphis. My first job out of college was producing "move here" content for city chambers and economic development groups, so I know exactly what cities are trying to say and what people actually need to hear.
Since then I ran a comedy tour company in Los Angeles for a decade, then moved to Buenos Aires and made videos about learning to live there. Some of the Americans who watched ended up moving there too.
I travel slow. I stay long enough to get past the honeymoon phase, because that's when you find out if a place is home. The next wave of moving is about community, schools, and building a life you can stay in. This show is where I put all of that to work.
I only go where I'd consider living.
That's the rule for every city on the map. I'm not touring. I'm spending 17 days finding out if I could build a life there, and then telling you what I found.
